Recovery Is a Skill You Can Build

By Jeremy Young, Foundation Recovery Services

Recovery isn’t just about quitting a substance—it’s about learning how to live again. At Foundation Recovery Services, we believe that recovery is a set of skills you can build over time. It takes practice, support, and patience, like learning to ride a bike or play an instrument. That’s why our approach focuses on teaching and applying essential life skills—because knowing what to do isn’t enough; you also need to know how to do it in the moments that matter most.

Whether you’re stepping into your first group session or returning after a relapse, our programs—intensive outpatient, outpatient treatment, and community education groups—meet you where you are. We explore powerful topics like defense mechanisms, thinking errors, and emotional triggers, helping you develop tools you can use every day.

Since 1996, I’ve walked alongside people through every stage of recovery. I’ve seen what works: connection, understanding, and the belief that you can do better—even if you don’t believe it yet. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need a foundation to build from. We’re here for that.
